Color and Contrast – Medium Contrast

Medium Contrast Level
Dark value hair and medium value skin. Medium value hair and light value skin. Light value hair and medium value skin. These combinations make up medium contrast levels.
Jolie’s hair value is dark, and her skin value is medium.
She looks beautiful in medium valued color combinations and with medium contrasting colors displayed against her skin.
Yes, this dress has a host of faux paus.
But for now, focus on how distressing the color contrast scheme is in relationship to her natural contrast level. Low Contrast

(Video) A Look at Color as it Relates to Contrast – High Contrast
Friday, April 22nd, 2011
Wearing colors that are in sync with your natural color scheme play a significant role in your overall look. But don’t be fool. There’s more to the color equation. Identifying the level of contrast that exists in the colors of your own body and then repeating that level of contrast in what you wear is the little secret many color consultants fail to mention.
How to identify your contrast level
• Take a self-photo and convert it to black and white.
• Determine if your hair value is dark, medium or light.
• Determine if your skin value is dark, medium or light.
Take a look at this picture of Sophie Ellis-Bextor. The high contrast between her hair and skin is easily recognizable.
Converting this same picture to black and white, notice how her dark colors appear very dark and her light colors appear very light.
Now, look at supermodel Alek Wek. Do you think her contrast level is high, medium or low?
Alek, too, has a high contrast level. Notice how the whites of her eyes and teeth contrast highly with her dark skin.
Alek’s high contrast is even more prevalent in this picture, as here we see not only how the whites of her eyes contrast with her dark skin, but also the contrast of the reflected light on her face.
Both look fabulous in high contrast color-combinations. Another winning look is wearing colors that contrast strongly against their hair
or skin
Now, take a look at this video. Note how all the models have dark hair; not one blond. Medium Contrast

While some offices are more accepting of one open toe shoe style over another, other offices accept both. And then there are those offices that still struggle over the issue of bare legs. My best advice is to adhere to whatever policy your company adopts. Toeing the line simply isn’t worth the possibility of having both feet out the door. What’s your take? Complete the poll and leave a comment telling me what you really think. Tags: corporate image consulting, Michigan corporate image consulting, Professional Tips Friday, February 25th, 2011

Honeysuckle Offers a Little Something for Everyone (Video)
VIDEO BELOW
Honeysuckle. According to Pantone Color Institute, it’s the color of the year, but for most men, even the name intimidates. What’s more, this color’s mere pink hue is enough to turn many men off. But honeysuckle is not a little girl’s pink; this sophisticated pink is for grown folks. Used in smaller dosages, honeysuckle can work quite well even on the most testosterone-driven man.
About honeysuckle. It’s said that the fruit doesn’t fall far from the tree, and honeysuckle’s mother, red, is the most physical, viscerally alive hue in the spectrum. Be prepared for an immediate boost in your look and overall feeling when you don this color.
Here’s an interesting fact: It’s not the fragrance of the honeysuckle flower that attracts the hummingbird to its nectar; it’s the color. With that said, expect a bit of magnetism when you wear this hue.
How to incorporate honeysuckle into your wardrobe. Men can inject instant verve and vigor into their spring wardrobe by incorporating bits of honeysuckle. For the daring, pair a honeysuckle colored shirt with a navy, grey or charcoal suits. Alternatively, for a more corporate look, choose a striped design tie to offset the color with more masculine hues such as brown, navy or grey. Do keep in mind that this is a high intensity color. Make sure your attitude mirrors that intensity. Honeysuckle is a great color for warding off the winter blues. Try it! Add this lively hue to your wardrobe today.
