eBay Webinar Training Survey

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

It all began with a $100 pair of front row tickets to see Erykah Badu and Floetry.  Before long, I owned a deep discounted Volvo C70 convertible.   Next came countless designer clothing and shoes, many still with tags, including “hell yeah”  Prada and Claudia Ciuti boots and Current Elliot boyfriend jeans.  With increased confidence came larger purchases:  HDTVs, Raymond Weil watches even a Macbook Pro that cost under $650.  And just today, my newest love came in the mail; a gorgeous baby blue leather jacket that cost all of $39 bucks!  Yep, I’m the eBay queen and I have lots of tricks up my sleeve.

Let me show  you how to save $1,000 of dollars.  Own items from around the world without breaking the bank.  Whether you’re looking to buy or sell Biggie Smalls memorabilia on this 13th anniversary of his death, or you’re trying to get your hands on one of those trending blue Oscars dresses, or maybe you’re looking to recreate a Michelle Obama Fashion look eBay has it.

Next month P²Styles offers you the opportunity to attend one of two invite only eBay webinars.  All you need is complete this SURVEY and you’ll receive an invite at your choice of webinars.  Help us develop an eBay webinar that will help you develop your eBaying skills.

Blue Hue Hue – Oscars Fashions and Trending Colors

Monday, March 8th, 2010

In my last blog posting, I forecast that, although hues of blue would be a strong contender, coral would dominate the 2010 Oscars red carpet. Well, blue hue hue. Today, as I eat this hefty dose of humble pie, all I can say is “shame on you bluzy”. With the name Indigo, you’d think I’d jump all over an opportunity to promote blue. Oh well, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; even the experts get it wrong. *Crunch, crunch, crunch*

The Blue Hue Family

Mo'Nique - Academy Award Winner for Best Supporting Actress in the movie "Precious"

Oscar winner Mo’Nique, wore a cobalt blue Tadashi gown that draped and hugged in all the right places.  To pay homage to Hattie McDaniel, the first African-American actress to win an Academy Award, Mo’Nique wore a white gardenia in her hair.

Gabourey Sidibe Oscar nominee for best female actress - Precious

Gabourey Sidibe donned a blue, short-sleeved, Marchesa gown, decorated with diamond flowers.  Great fit; not the best color.   Nevertheless, it won’t be what she wore, but  instead, Sidibe’s commentary about what she wore, i.e. “If fashion was porn, this dress is the money shot”, that will leave its mark and certainly go down in history as one of the red carpet’s most memorable quotes.

Kristine Stewart wearing Monique Lhuillier 2010 Oscars

Actress and Oscar presenter Kristen Stewart exercised her fashionista muscle in a Monique Lhuillier, midnight blue, belted mermaid gown.

Oprah wearing Carolina Herrera at the 82 Academy Awards Show

Oprah too chose blue, wearing a stunning Carolina Herrera midnight blue faille and double organza gown.

Sidebar: Did you know that Oprah is auctioning off a ton of her clothes on eBay from now through March 11th?

Robert Downey Jr. sports a blue bowtie and custom tinted glasses

Even Robert Downey, Jr. threw us some shade, accessorizing his Lanvin tux with a teal bowtie and donning a pair of Oliver Peoples Sheldrake, custom blue tinted lens glasses

Other Popular Hues

Penelope Cruz Wearing Donna Karan Couture

Love this gorgeous bordeaux, satin pleated draped Donna Karan Couture gown worn by the lovely Penelope Cruz.  Check out the asymmetrical strapless neckline.  Awesome feature for a woman who has undergone a mastectomy.

Dana Owens aka Queen Latifah knows how to work the red carpet.

I was completely enamored with Dana Owens aka Queen Latifah’s look. Dana wore the perfect figure flattering mauve, one-shoulder Badgely Mischka gown. Always seen sporting flawless hair and makeup to match, Dana continues to lead the “awesomeness” pack on the red carpet.

Demi Moore Versace Gown 2010 Oscars

Finally, we come to my favorite look of the evening.  When Demi Moore walked on stage, I lost my breath!  Okay, Ms. Zoe, you worked this one out and I am not mad at you for digging into the archives either.

Fashion critics agree that Demi looked incredible. But, agreeing on the hue of this stunning Atelier Versace, strapless gown, seen first on the 2008 runways . . .  well, let’s just say that’s a horse of a different color. I’ve seen blush and nude used on occasions, to describe the hue of the beautifully tiered frock. What color am I calling it? Why none other than coral, of course.

Oscars 2010 Red Carpet Color Predictions

Sunday, March 7th, 2010

Mo'Nique - Precious (Nominee for Best Supporting Actress)

It won’t be long now before the road to the 87th Oscars comes to an end. But not before some 36 million viewers around the world witness the melding of Hollywood’s biggest movie stars and the fashion industry’s top designers.

Let’s face it, for the style aficionado, the Academy Awards is all about the red carpet. This viewer cares less about which movie star gets to take Oscar home, and more about which fashion trend to expect in his or her home closet over the ensuing months. As you might imagine, in addition to looking for fashion trends, I’m looking for color trends. Of all the colors forecast for the spring/summer seasons, I want to know which one shall lead the pack.

This year, the nominees are: Coral; Amber; Pink; Plum; Turquoise; and Teal.

I’m predicting coral to be the winner, despite the fact that hues of blue, specifically turquoise and teal, are strong contenders. What’s your prediction?

Asian ConFusion Trend

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

Oh dear.  Who What Wear daily labels this trend Asian Fusion.  I call it Asian Confusion!  I  love Asian fashion, but this is just a hot mess.  Asians, like Italians, understand style in a way many Americans never will; particularly in terms of fit and proportion.  Let’s face it, in 2010, some sartorially inept Americans still need to hear that wearing their “pants on the ground” is so,  well, so never should have been.   That said, throwing unexpected American elements with Asian-inspired garments, like we see here, simply does not work.  Rachel Zoe fails to bring anything inspiring to this look, especially since she’s chosen to keep the All-American hair.  Nicole’s Asian Fusion interpretation is difficult to pinpoint;  she looks more vagabondish than anything else.   Ashley Olsen appears her usual “lost in space” and fabric self.  On a positive note, I do like Palermo’s look.

If these examples are any indication of what Asian Fusion should resemble, I’m hoping this trend will fly under the radar.  The only thing worse than having to look at a bunch of trend whores wearing this, would be me, the image consultant/stylist having to duplicate it for clients.  But, if it came down to that, I would simply throw my special American flavor  in the mix.  Hmmmm, that could be down right tasty.
